LEARN MORE ABOUT KD
FOUNDER OF KDH COUNSELING & KDH COLLECTIVE
For 18 incredible years, KD has dedicated herself to being a therapist. She genuinely loves her profession and feels grateful to have found something that comes so naturally to her. Energetic and talkative, she's known to be a lot of fun, especially when she's riding her bike. But don't let her lively nature fool you, she's also kind, patient, and an excellent problem solver. Solving puzzles fuels her brain, and she even enjoys doing them regularly. Just like puzzles, understanding people's biology, behavioral patterns, and history drives her in the therapy room. Friends even describe her as a "raging extrovert" because she thrives on days filled with talking and listening.
With a background in Anthropology, KD understands that there are countless ways to approach therapy, just as there are countless ways that cultures thrive. She embraces this diversity when helping clients develop skills and choosing the right therapeutic processes. As KD says, "Therapy is not about my values, it is about my clients."
Fundamentally, KD recognizes that therapists, like everyone else, face challenges and problems in life. It's the human condition, and she firmly believes that none of us are exempt from it. To truly help others, she stays connected to her struggles and embraces her humanity.
Therapy, in KD's eyes, is an art form that requires practicing curiosity and patience, providing education, and holding clients accountable. This therapeutic dance creates a rich soil for change to occur. In KD's office, you'll find two chairs instead of a couch, because therapy is about two people working together. One of those people is KD, a well-educated and experienced listener, guide, and coach.

LEARN MORE ABOUT ISLA
KDH COUNSELING THERAPIST
Isla is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned both her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Master of Science in Counselor Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Trained, and BIPOC BTTI Trained through the International OCD Foundation to facilitate ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention). She works with adolescents and adults seeking help with managing neurodivergence, trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, ableism, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or exploring their identity.
She believes counseling can be an effective tool for everyone, be it someone who is learning more about a mental health issue or someone who is seeking clarity in their personal and professional life. Isla emphasizes that therapy does not imply brokenness or anything wrong with the individual. Rather, it is an opportunity for people to understand more deeply who they are and create positive change in their lives. Through recognizing the emotions associated with growth and change, Isla helps her clients find ways to process these feelings to move forward in their journey towards self-discovery. Isla encourages her clients to be patient with themselves as the journey of self-discovery takes time. Her clients learn skills such as vulnerability, self-compassion, and emotional regulation, and how to use these tools to manage difficult situations.
Isla illustrates to her clients how they talk to themselves has a great influence on their life experiences and can either lead them to fulfillment or keep them stuck in negative cycles. Therefore, early on in her work with clients she takes time to address any unhelpful self-talk they may have developed over the years. Through this process, people start building more positive narratives while emphasizing understanding what lies beneath those harsh words – understanding why someone might be engaging in this type of behavior to make lasting changes.
Outside of work, Isla enjoys the spontaneity that comes with being a wife and mom of four. She talks about parenting being a transformative experience that helps her be a better human. For her, raising four children - including a teenager with low vision, a neurodivergent child, and two kids with several anaphylactic food allergies - has taught her the value of perspective in appreciating all of humanity.
Her personal experiences have broadened her worldview and attitudes towards others. Throughout this journey, she has come to understand that people are only as limited as our perspective of them.

LEARN MORE ABOUT CHRIS
KDH COUNSELING THERAPIST
"People pretend to be happy, yet they're hurting. Hiding unhappiness leads to depression and overreactions. Our partnership should be natural enough to allow us to explore beyond our roles."
"Welcome! I’m Chris Broussard M.A., LPC, and I’m honored to walk alongside you on your journey towards healing and growth. Being your counselor is mostly about enabling you to become conscious of yourself, your surroundings, and the relationship between the two, thereby enabling you to take ownership of and freedom from your decisions. For my part, I want to foster a genuine, trustworthy, funny, respectful, and nurturing atmosphere. The counseling relationship can be a private and vulnerable place. Giving you the room to forge your own identity inside our partnership is how I aim to respect this. Together, I want to develop a connection of inquiry and action.
As your therapist, I will assist you with creating that change with three key aspects. The first aspect, implementing (faith), changing, and removing all doubt. Second, incorporating positive (choice); every opportunity and every challenge confronts us with a choice, you choose either the positive or negative approach. Third, which is the most important (desire), you must have a deep hunger along with a desire for change in your life.
Our therapy sessions will be person-centered and solution-focused. You know yourself best so when confronting your beliefs, we will work on developing your purpose by discovering and defining. Are you the person you want to be? Are you living a meaningful life? Are you investing in your happiness etc? I have experience working within several areas including but not limited to Self-Esteem, Anxiety, Depression, Childhood Trauma, Adjustment disorders, and Family Conflict.

LEARN MORE ABOUT BRENT
KDH COUNSELING THERAPIST
Brent is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addictions Counselor, with over a decade of dedicated experience in the field of addiction. Her work is rooted in a passion for helping individuals overcome substance use and address the complex, underlying issues that fuel addictive behaviors. Brent's insight into addiction runs deep—it’s not just her profession, it’s a path she has walked herself.
With 14 years of sobriety, Brent’s recovery fuels her commitment to helping others reclaim their lives. Her own story of overcoming addiction informs her approach; she understands the mindset of an addict and embraces the multicausal model of addiction. This model considers addiction as the intersection of three key elements—the substance, the individual (and their brain chemistry), and the surrounding environment. Brent sees addiction not simply as a problem but as a symptom—a mask for unresolved pain, trauma, or unmet psychological needs.
Recognizing the profound connection between mental health and addiction, Brent took her professional development further, earning a license in mental health counseling. She brings an aware and adaptive perspective to her work, meeting clients where they are and guiding them as they uncover the roots of their struggles. “The only way out is through” is not just Brent’s motto; it’s a philosophy woven into every session she leads.
Her clinical expertise extends across a spectrum of challenges, from complex trauma, depression, and anxiety to anger, emotional dysregulation, and relationship struggles. Brent’s deep understanding of the human psyche has made her an essential guide for those navigating the darkest corners of their minds. She is trained in advanced therapeutic modalities, including Brainspotting and EMDR, and integrates a dynamic range of approaches such as DBT, CBT, ACT, and Mindfulness-Based Practices. With each session, her goal is not to dictate change but to offer a safe, empowering space where self-awareness blossoms and willingness takes root.
Brent also understands that addiction is not an isolated struggle—it impacts families in profound ways. She is compassionate yet pragmatic in guiding family members through the challenges of supporting their loved ones. Addiction is, after all, a family disease, and Brent equips families with the knowledge and tools to heal together.
From her work with veterans and active-duty personnel addressing trauma and addiction to assisting individuals and families navigating emotional recovery, Brent creates a client-centered approach that is both empathetic and empowering. She believes that meaningful change often starts with the smallest of steps—an act of courage, a moment of clarity, and a willingness to try something new.
A fierce advocate for self-care, Brent embodies this value in her own life. An avid swimmer, she finds solace in outdoor adventures and commits daily to relaxation and resetting as vital acts of self-awareness. Her genuine and humorous nature brings warmth and lightness into her work, fostering connections with her clients, family, and even her beloved pets. Gratitude and worthiness are not abstract concepts for Brent—they are pillars of her life, and she strives to instill the same appreciation in others.

LEARN MORE ABOUT JESSI
KDH COUNSELING THERAPIST
Jessi (She/Her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology (Minor in Child and Family Studies) and Master of Science in Counselor Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She was born and raised in southern Louisiana and is proud of her Cajun heritage. She works with adults looking for assistance with managing trauma, neurodivergence, depression, anxiety, identity, and relationship issues.
She developed a passion and understanding for mental health at an early age watching her mother battle with a serious psychiatric disorder. This led to Jessi spending the last several years in community mental health, working in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospitals in Acadiana. She has experience working with every age group as well as populations struggling with complex trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, and grief. She enjoys working with and supporting those in the LGBTQIA+ Community, as well as working with couples. She takes an integrative approach to counseling, but her favorite approaches are Gestalt and Systemic. Gestalt therapy focuses on the “whole” person, or how a person is a sum of all of the parts that make them unique. It sees the client as an individual in the present moment and how they are a blend of the emotions, mind, body, and soul with unique experiences that shape who they are. Systemic therapy focuses on the various systems that play a role in our lives, to what extent those roles shape and guide us, and how we can change those systems to better serve the client.
Jessi is a bubbly, genuine, and curious person who enjoys putting a smile on other’s faces. When she’s not assisting others with their mental health she enjoys spending time with her husband Blair and their three cats Novah, Chloe, Samurai Jack, and Moxxi the dog. She can usually be found playing video games, cooking/baking, creative writing, and working in her garden.

LEARN MORE ABOUT LISA
KDH COUNSELING THERAPIST
Lisa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. She has worked in the field of early childhood for almost two decades and brings a wealth of clinical, consultative, and administrative experience into the therapy room. Lisa currently spends her days serving as a Senior Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant for the Tulane Infant and Early Childhood Consultation Supports and Services (TIKES) team. She is proud to partner with early childhood professionals with the goal of improving the social, emotional, and behavioral health of young children in early learning settings.
Lisa graduated with her Bachelor of Arts with a Concentration of Humanities and Social Thought from the Louisiana Scholars’ College in 2002 and her Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University in 2005. She has had extensive training in Infant Mental Health and she is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Preschool and Youth PTSD Treatment, and Triple P Parenting. She is also an ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Educator and has been trained in Trust Based Relational Intervention.
Lisa believes that PLAY is a child’s language. All behavior is communication. She meets children and families where they are, and generally allows the child to lead the therapy process. She can shift into a more directive behavior modification approach if necessary, however, she prefers non-directive child-centered play therapy. Like adults, children have big thoughts and feelings, so Lisa aims to create a space where her clients feel safe enough to work them out. She knows that the therapeutic relationship is paramount to success, so she establishes trust first and foremost. Lisa also recognizes that parents or caregivers are an instrumental part of the treatment process. She truly enjoys connecting with caregivers and providing support to create optimal outcomes for children across their home and school settings.
When she isn’t working, you might find Lisa enjoying a good book, putting together a puzzle, watching her kids on the soccer or football fields, exploring true crime, attending or even performing in a local community theatre production. You might have seen her in the role of Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music or Cousin Myrtle in The Pajama Party Murders. Life is too short not to do something that brings you joy!
