ADHD COACHING FOR SCHOOL, WORK, AND EVERYDAY LIFE IN LAFAYETTE, LA
There's a pile on the kitchen counter. Mail, a permission slip, the work badge you swore you'd put by the door. You know exactly what's in it. Knowing has never been the problem. Starting is the problem.
ADHD coaching in Lafayette, Louisiana helps teens and adults turn what they already know into what they actually do, at school, at work, and at home. At KDH Counseling, our ADHD coaches build practical, brain-friendly systems for planning, time, focus, and follow-through. In person in Lafayette or by telehealth across Louisiana.
WHAT IS ADHD COACHING?
ADHD coaching is skills-based, goal-focused support for executive functioning: planning, prioritizing, getting started, managing time, and finishing what you start. It's sometimes called executive function coaching, and it's about the here and now.
Coaching doesn't ask you to try harder. You've tried harder your whole life. Coaching helps you build systems that work with your brain instead of against it, then practice them week to week until they stick.
When we know better, we do better. Coaching is where the doing happens.
WHAT ADHD COACHING HELPS WITH
Our ADHD coaching stays focused on three areas of life:
School
- Study skills, homework routines, and test prep that fit an ADHD brain
- Breaking big projects into steps and keeping up with deadlines
- Using planners, calendars, and school portals without getting lost in them
- Transitions to high school, college, or trade school
Work
- Time management, prioritizing, and avoiding the last-minute scramble
- Email, meetings, and task lists that don't swallow your day
- Career planning and navigating ADHD at work
- Getting started on the tasks you keep putting off
Daily functioning
- Morning and evening routines
- Bills, appointments, and the pile on the counter
- Household systems that survive a busy week
- Follow-through and accountability between sessions

Some people need a game plan. Coaching is where we build it, test it, and adjust it until it fits your real life.
ADHD COACHING FOR ADULTS
Monet David, MS, LPC, ADHD-CCSP is an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider who coaches adults on the same school, work, and daily-life skills. Monet brings years of experience with late-diagnosed ADHD to coaching, so she understands how much the systems matter when you've spent years being called lazy.
WHAT COACHING COVERS
Coaching sessions are practical and present-focused, built around whatever's getting in the way day to day. That can include:
- Time management - planning, prioritizing, and actually meeting deadlines
- Organization - tasks, paperwork, spaces, and digital tools
- Follow-through - starting tasks and reducing procrastination
- Routines - morning, evening, work, and school routines that actually stick
- Goal setting - breaking big goals into small, doable steps
- Self-understanding - learning your own strengths, triggers, and patterns
- Accountability - regular check-ins on the steps you choose
A formal ADHD diagnosis isn't required to start coaching. Coaching doesn't diagnose ADHD, and it doesn't include medication management.
COACHING IS NOT THERAPY
Coaching stays focused on skills and follow-through. If anxiety, depression, trauma, or big emotions are getting in the way, our neurodiversity-affirming therapists can help, and we'll talk with you about which service fits best. Coaching and therapy are separate services, and coaching isn't billed to insurance.
ADHD COACHING, THERAPY, MEDICATION, OR TESTING: WHAT FITS?
ADHD support at KDH Counseling comes in a few forms, and they work well together.
- ADHD coaching (this page) focuses on skills, systems, and follow-through for school, work, and daily life.
- Neurodiversity-affirming therapy focuses on emotional regulation, identity, burnout, and co-occurring anxiety, trauma, or OCD.
- ADHD medication management with our psychiatric nurse practitioners can support attention and focus. When ADHD symptoms are more severe, medication, therapy, and coaching together often give people the support they need.
- Adult ADHD & autism testing provides a formal diagnosis and written report.
You don't need a formal diagnosis to start coaching. If you're not sure where to begin, call us and we'll help you sort it out.
