OCD can feel like your brain keeps pulling the fire alarm, even when part of you knows there may not be a fire. For kids, teens, and adults, this can show up as intrusive thoughts, compulsions, reassurance-seeking, checking, avoidance, rituals, or the need for things to feel “just right.”

At KDH Counseling in Lafayette, LA, we provide OCD medication management for children, teens, and adults ages 5 and up. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners work with you to decide if medication is a good fit for your treatment plan.

Medication does not erase thoughts or make someone “less themselves.” For some people, it can help turn down the alarm enough to breathe, pause, and do the work of getting unstuck.

When appropriate, medication care can be coordinated with OCD therapy at KDH.

WHAT TO EXPECT

At the first appointment, your provider will ask about symptoms, age, sleep, health history, past medications, stressors, and goals.

For children and teens, parents or caregivers may be involved in the appointment so the provider can understand what is happening at home, school, and in daily routines.
